INSTANT-ON Technology
Viridian’s INSTANT-ON system uses a transmitter in compatible holsters that activates the laser or light automatically the moment the firearm clears the holster — no manual button press required. When the firearm is re-holstered, the system deactivates to conserve battery. This activation-on-draw is a meaningful defensive advantage — in a high-stress defensive situation, remembering to activate a separate switch is a cognitive step that INSTANT-ON eliminates. Compatible Viridian holsters are available for most popular defensive pistols.
Viridian C5L and X5L: The Core Lineup
The Viridian C5L combines a green laser and 100-lumen tactical light in a compact package for full-size and compact pistols — the most popular Viridian model for defensive carry use. The X5L is the premium full-size version with a 500-lumen light, green laser, and tactical strobe for duty and home defense applications. Both attach to standard accessory rails and include INSTANT-ON capability with compatible holsters.
IR Lasers and Night Vision Compatibility
Viridian produces IR (infrared) laser sights invisible to the naked eye and visible only through night vision devices — for use with PVS-14 and similar NV equipment. The HS1 handstop IR laser mounts to Picatinny rail and provides a positive grip point with an integrated IR laser for night operations. IR laser use requires compatible night vision equipment to be functional.

Does green laser work better than red?
Yes in most conditions — green lasers are approximately 50 times more visible to the human eye than red at the same power output, making green significantly more visible in daylight and outdoor use. Red lasers are more battery-efficient and adequate for indoor defensive use. For outdoor or daytime use where laser visibility matters, green is meaningfully superior.
