Surefire

SureFire pioneered the weapon-mounted flashlight category and remains the benchmark against which all other tactical lights are measured. Their X300 Ultra is the standard-issue pistol light for elite military and law enforcement units worldwide. SureFire X300 Series: The Duty Pistol Light Standard

The SureFire X300 Ultra is the flagship pistol weapon light and one of the most widely issued duty lights in law enforcement. The X300U-A produces 1,000 lumens from a compact housing that mounts on standard Picatinny and GL-style rails. Its TIR lens produces a tight, far-reaching beam with useful spill for peripheral target identification. The X300U-B variant moves the activation switch rearward for different thumb placement preferences. For duty holster compatibility, the X300 series is among the most supported platforms — Safariland, Blackhawk, and virtually every major duty holster manufacturer produces X300-specific retention holsters. The X300 Ultra is not the least expensive option in its class, but its reputation for reliability in austere conditions and its unmatched holster ecosystem justify the premium for duty use.

SureFire XH Series: The XH30 and XH35

The XH30 and XH35 are SureFire's high-output compact pistol lights, delivering 1,000 and 1,500 lumens respectively in a housing comparable in size to the X300. The XH35 is one of the highest-output compact pistol lights on the market — its dual fuel capability (two CR123A or one 18650 rechargeable) provides flexibility for both high-output burst use and extended lower-output operation. For shooters who want maximum lumens in the X300 footprint without stepping up to a larger housing, the XH35 is the practical upgrade path.

SureFire Scout Light: Rifle and Carbine Illumination

The SureFire Scout Light series covers weapon-mounted lights for rifles, carbines, and shotguns. The Scout Light Pro (M600U) produces 1,000 lumens in a low-profile M-LOK compatible housing that mounts cleanly on AR-15 handguards. The M600DF Dual Fuel Scout Light accepts both CR123A batteries and a single 18650 rechargeable cell. Scout Lights are compatible with SureFire's pressure switch system, allowing remote activation without breaking grip. The Scout Light's reputation for durability under the recoil of automatic weapons platforms translates to exceptional reliability on semi-automatic rifles. For home defense and competition AR-15 builds, the Scout Light Pro is the premium standard.

SureFire Stiletto: The EDC Rechargeable Flashlight

The SureFire Stiletto is a flat-profile rechargeable EDC flashlight designed for pocket carry — its thin rectangular form factor fits alongside a phone or wallet without the cylindrical bulk of traditional flashlights. Available in 650-lumen single-output and 1,000-lumen Pro versions, the Stiletto charges via USB-C and is SureFire's answer to the modern rechargeable EDC market. For professionals and everyday carriers who want SureFire quality in a non-weapon-mounted format, the Stiletto is the flagship option.

SureFire vs. Streamlight: Making the Choice

SureFire and Streamlight are the two dominant weapon light brands in law enforcement and military use. SureFire pioneered the category and maintains its reputation for absolute reliability under the most demanding conditions — their X300 Ultra is the benchmark. Streamlight offers comparable performance at a meaningfully lower price; the TLR-1 HL consistently matches the X300 in independent testing at roughly half the cost. For most civilian home defense and carry applications, Streamlight's TLR-1 HL delivers everything needed. For duty use where budget is less constrained and equipment has been qualified to specific agency standards, SureFire's pedigree is worth the premium. Both carry comprehensive warranties and are fully serviceable.

SureFire High-Capacity Magazines

SureFire produces 60-round and 100-round quad-stack magazines for AR-15 and M4 platforms — used by special operations units and competition shooters who need extended capacity without drum magazine bulk. SureFire's quad-stack feed geometry provides reliable feeding from a 60-round capacity in a package only slightly longer than a standard 30-round magazine. These are competition and range tools rather than standard defensive magazines, but represent the same engineering philosophy SureFire applies across all its products. See our drum magazines page for other high-capacity options.

Battery Guide: CR123A for SureFire Lights

SureFire weapon lights run on CR123A lithium batteries — the same standard as Streamlight's primary lineup. CR123A batteries offer high energy density in a compact package and a 10-year shelf life, making them ideal for weapon lights that may sit loaded for extended periods. SureFire sells their own CR123A batteries, which are manufactured to tight tolerances to prevent voltage spikes that can damage high-output LEDs. For any SureFire light used in a defensive role, replace batteries annually and keep a supply of fresh CR123A cells on hand. Never use rechargeable CR123A cells in SureFire lights unless specifically approved — the voltage profile differs from primary lithium cells.
