Barrett M107A1
The Barrett M107A1 is the current production .50 BMG semi-automatic rifle and the most widely issued anti-materiel rifle among US and NATO military forces — a 29” fluted barrel in Flat Dark Earth Cerakote with an optics-ready receiver, 10-round detachable box magazine, and the recoil-reducing dual-chamber muzzle brake that makes .50 BMG recoil manageable from a semi-automatic platform. Available in standard and Ministry of Defense packages with hard cases and matched accessories, the M107A1 is the most advanced production .50 BMG rifle available to civilian buyers.

Military Heritage: The US Armed Forces Standard
The Barrett M107A1 is the US military’s designated M107 Anti-Materiel Rifle — issued to Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Special Operations units for long-range precision fire against materiel targets, lightly armored vehicles, crew-served weapons, and personnel at distances exceeding 1,800 meters. The M107’s fielding in Iraq and Afghanistan established its reputation for reliability and accuracy in the most demanding operational environments. The civilian M107A1 is functionally identical to the issued military platform — the same Barrett manufacturing, the same .50 BMG chambering, the same 29” barrel. For buyers who want the actual military-issue precision rifle in its current production form: M107A1.
FDE Cerakote and Optics-Ready Configuration
The M107A1 ships in Flat Dark Earth Cerakote — the military-standard corrosion-resistant finish that protects the rifle in desert, maritime, and arctic environments. The optics-ready receiver accepts standard Picatinny-mounted rifle scopes for the long-range precision use the .50 BMG caliber enables. The hard case included with standard and Ministry of Defense packages provides the transport protection that a rifle at this price point demands. The fluted barrel reduces barrel weight without sacrificing rigidity, and the integral folding bipod provides a stable shooting position from prone.
.50 BMG: The Cartridge and Its Capabilities
The .50 BMG (12.7x99mm NATO) cartridge fires a 660–800 grain bullet at approximately 2,800 fps from the M107A1’s 29” barrel, producing roughly 13,000 ft-lbs of muzzle energy — more than ten times the energy of .308 Win. At 1,000 yards, .50 BMG retains more energy than most centerfire rifle cartridges produce at the muzzle. The cartridge’s primary civilian applications are long-range target shooting at 1,000+ yard ranges where no other cartridge maintains the same trajectory flatness and wind resistance, and the anti-materiel capability that makes the M107A1 the most capable firearm available to civilian buyers. See our .50 BMG ammo page for match-grade and practice load options.
QDL Suppressor Compatibility
Barrett produces the QDL (Quick-Detach Longitudinal) suppressor specifically for the M107A1 — a .50 BMG-rated suppressor in FDE Cerakote with quick-detach mounting that attaches directly to the M107A1’s muzzle brake interface. The QDL reduces the M107A1’s already-managed recoil further and provides meaningful sound reduction for the .50 BMG’s blast. Since January 1, 2026, the NFA $200 tax stamp has been eliminated, making the M107A1 and QDL combination the most accessible it has ever been. See our suppressors page.
Ministry of Defense Package
The Barrett M107A1 Ministry of Defense package includes the rifle, hard case, Barrett-matched Leupold scope, suppressor adapter, and the complete accessory set configured to military procurement specifications. For buyers who want a complete, optics-matched system ready to shoot at long range without sourcing individual components: the MoD package provides factory-matched components at a package price that is typically more favorable than building the equivalent configuration from individual purchases.
