ZEV Technologies OZ9
ZEV Technologies is California’s premier Glock aftermarket specialist turned pistol manufacturer — and the OZ9 is their statement piece. A fully modular 9mm pistol built around a chassis system that accepts interchangeable grip modules, the OZ9 delivers ZEV’s competition-grade trigger, barrel, and slide work in a factory package. It uses Glock 17 magazines and shares dimensional compatibility with much of the Glock aftermarket, while delivering a fit-and-finish and trigger quality that stock Glocks simply cannot match.

OZ9 Lineup: Standard, Combat, Elite & X Compact
The OZ9 Standard is the full-size competition configuration — 5.31″ barrel, optics-ready slide, and ZEV’s signature trigger. The OZ9 Combat shortens to a 4.49″ barrel for a carry/duty-capable package that retains full-size magazine compatibility. The OZ9 Elite adds enhanced components including a compensated barrel option. The OZ9 X Compact is the most carry-friendly version — a compact footprint while maintaining the ZEV trigger and build quality. The modular grip system accepts multiple grip modules across the lineup, allowing customization of grip angle, size, and texture to personal preference.
ZEV Trigger: What Makes It Different
ZEV Technologies built their reputation on Glock trigger upgrades before the OZ9 — their drop-in triggers for Glock pistols are among the most popular aftermarket upgrades in the market. The OZ9 ships with a factory ZEV trigger that breaks cleanly at under 4 lbs with a short, tactile reset — significantly better than any stock Glock trigger and comparable to fully tuned custom Glocks costing substantially more. For competition shooters who want USPSA Production or Carry Optics-legal performance without a custom shop build, the OZ9’s factory trigger is the primary value proposition.
OZ9 vs. Stock Glock: Is the Premium Justified?
The OZ9 costs significantly more than a comparable Glock 17 or G19. The justification is entirely in the trigger and build quality. A stock Glock trigger runs 5.5–6 lbs with a mushy wall — adequate for defensive use but noticeably inferior for competition. Achieving OZ9-level trigger performance on a Glock requires $150–400 in aftermarket trigger components plus gunsmith installation. The OZ9 delivers that performance from the factory with ZEV’s own barrel and slide manufacturing quality. For a competition shooter who would have modified a Glock anyway, the OZ9 represents comparable total cost with the advantage of factory warranty coverage on all components.
OZ9 for Competition: USPSA and IDPA Legal Configurations
The OZ9 is legal in USPSA Production division (compact models with flush magazines), Carry Optics with the optics-ready slide, and Open division. The trigger pull meets Production division minimums in most configurations. ZEV’s reputation in the competition community means OZ9 holster availability, magazine compatibility (Glock 17 mags), and aftermarket support are strong. For IDPA Enhanced Service Pistol or Stock Service Pistol, verify the specific OZ9 configuration against current rulebooks — the modular grip system may affect classification.
