Lever-Action Rifles
Impact Guns has been carrying lever-action rifles since 1992, and this remains one of our most beloved categories. Henry Repeating Arms dominates our lever-action inventory — made in America, built to last a lifetime, and available in calibers ranging from .22 LR to .45-70 Government. Whether you want a classic cowboy rifle, a fast-handling deer gun, or a home defense carbine in a pistol caliber, there’s a lever-action for the job.

Why Lever-Action Rifles?
Lever-action rifles offer a combination of fast follow-up shots, compact handling, and classic aesthetics that no other action type matches. A good lever-action is faster to cycle than a bolt gun, more compact than most semi-autos, and legal everywhere. They’re also one of the few rifle types where the action itself is part of the experience — smooth, satisfying, and historically significant.
Caliber Guide
.22 LR — Henry’s classic .22 lever-actions are the best entry point into the platform. Affordable to shoot, fun to run, and excellent for small game and training.
.357 Magnum / .38 Special — The classic pistol-caliber lever-action pairing. A .357 Magnum lever-action rifle paired with a .357 revolver shares ammunition and makes an outstanding home defense or ranch combo. Good deer cartridge inside 100 yards.
.44 Magnum / .44 Special — More power than .357, still manageable. Excellent deer and hog gun inside 150 yards. Pairs with .44 Magnum revolvers.
.45 Long Colt — The classic cowboy cartridge. Popular for SASS competition and collectors. Mild recoil, great fun.
30-30 Winchester — The most proven deer cartridge in American history. The Winchester Model 94 and Marlin 336 in 30-30 have taken more whitetail deer than any other combination. Effective to 150 yards.
.45-70 Government — A powerful cartridge for large game and bear country. Henry’s .45-70 Protector Carbine delivers serious stopping power in a compact package.
Dark Series and Tactical Lever Actions: The Modern Aesthetic
The fastest-growing segment in the lever-action market is the tactical or “dark” configuration — lever guns with black synthetic stocks, threaded barrels, M-LOK handguards, Picatinny rails, and fiber optic or night sights that bring the lever action into the modern accessories ecosystem. Henry’s X Model series and Marlin’s Dark Series are the two primary expressions of this trend, and both are selling at a pace that reflects genuine buyer demand rather than a niche curiosity. The Henry X Model is available in .357 Magnum/.38 Special, .30-30 Winchester, .360 Buckhammer, and other calibers with synthetic stocks, fiber optic sights, and threaded barrels for suppressor use. The Marlin Dark Series covers the 1895 in .44 Magnum and .45-70 Government and the 1894 in .357 Magnum — all with threaded barrels, M-LOK forends, Picatinny rails, and tritium night sights. For shooters who want the lever action’s mechanical simplicity and pistol-caliber compatibility with a modern tactical configuration, the Dark Series and X Model represent the best of both worlds. The threaded barrel on both platforms makes them outstanding suppressor hosts — a suppressed .357 Magnum lever gun with subsonic ammunition is one of the most enjoyable hearing-safe shooting experiences available.
