CZ P-10 Series—The Glock Alternative

When the CZ P-10 C launched, reviewers consistently praised its trigger as superior to the Glock 19 it was designed to compete with. The flat-faced trigger breaks crisply at around 4.5 pounds with minimal pre-travel and a short reset. The ergonomics are equally strong—the grip angle is more natural than Glock’s for many shooters, and the deep grip texturing provides secure retention without being abrasive. The P-10 C holds 15+1 rounds of 9mm in a compact package. The P-10 S sub-compact shrinks it further for carry, while the P-10 F full-size offers a longer sight radius and 19-round capacity.

CZ P-07 and P-09

The P-07 is CZ’s compact DA/SA pistol—a modern update to the CZ 75 platform with a polymer frame, decocker/safety interchangeable system, and 15+1 9mm capacity. The DA/SA trigger gives a longer, heavier first pull for an additional layer of safety, followed by shorter, lighter shots. The P-09 is the full-size version at 19+1 capacity. Both are exceptionally well-built pistols that often fly under the radar compared to the P-10 series, despite being reliable, accurate, and ergonomically excellent. They’re especially popular with shooters transitioning from traditional DA/SA service pistols.

CZ 75 Shadow 2—Competition Ready

The Shadow 2 is one of the most respected competition pistols in the world, dominating IPSC and USPSA Production division leaderboards. It’s an all-steel DA/SA pistol with a 17+1 capacity, match-grade barrel, extended magazine funnel, undercut trigger guard, and fiber optic sights—all from the factory. The Shadow 2 Orange and Optics-Ready variants add further competition refinements. It’s expensive compared to polymer striker guns, but for serious competition shooters it represents extraordinary value relative to custom 1911s or other dedicated competition pistols.

CZ Scorpion EVO Carbine

The Scorpion EVO 3 S1 carbine is the most popular 9mm PCC (pistol caliber carbine) on the market. Based on the Czech military’s submachine gun, the semi-auto Scorpion features a 16.2-inch barrel, folding adjustable stock, M-LOK handguard, and a 20-round magazine. It’s renowned for its reliability, low recoil, and the enormous aftermarket of stocks, grips, triggers, and accessories. The Micro variant offers a more compact package. For anyone building a suppressor host, home-defense carbine, or just a fun range gun, the Scorpion is consistently the recommendation.

Which CZ Is Right for You?

For concealed carry, the P-10 S or P-07 compact are the top picks. For duty or home defense, the P-10 C or P-09 offer the best combination of capacity, reliability, and ergonomics. For competition, the Shadow 2 is the clear choice. For a fun, versatile carbine, the Scorpion EVO. CZ’s consistent quality across all platforms means you can’t go wrong—the choice largely comes down to action type preference (striker vs. DA/SA) and intended use.
