Blanks
Blank ammunition contains a powder charge but no projectile, producing a muzzle flash and report without firing a bullet. Blanks are used for military and law enforcement force-on-force training, theatrical and film production, ceremonial firing (such as 21-gun salutes), and dog training (for gunshot conditioning). Safety Warning
Blank ammunition is not safe to fire at people at close range. Even without a projectile, the gas and debris discharged from a blank can cause serious injury or death at close distances. The tragedies that have occurred on film sets with blank firearms underscore that blank-loaded firearms must be treated with all the same safety discipline as live-fire firearms. Never point a blank-loaded firearm at another person at close range.
Blank Adapters
Semi-automatic and automatic firearms require a blank firing adapter (BFA) to cycle reliably with blank ammunition. The BFA restricts the muzzle to build sufficient gas pressure to cycle the action. Without a BFA, most semi-auto firearms will fire one round and then fail to cycle. Ensure your blank adapter is appropriate for your specific firearm platform before use.
