Benelli
Benelli has built one of the most respected shotgun lineups in the world by engineering around a single principle: the inertia-driven operating system. Where gas-operated shotguns rely on complex gas ports and pistons that require regular cleaning, Benelli’s inertia system uses the shotgun’s own recoil to cycle the action with minimal moving parts. The result is a lighter, more reliable, faster-cycling shotgun that shoots clean or dirty, wet or dry. From the M4 used by U.S. military and law enforcement to the Super Black Eagle 3 favored by waterfowlers, Impact Guns carries the full Benelli lineup.

The Inertia System
Benelli’s inertia-driven system is elegantly simple. When the shotgun fires, the inertia of the bolt body compresses a spring against the bolt head, which is locked into the barrel extension. When the spring releases, it drives the bolt rearward to eject the spent shell and then forward to chamber the next round. The entire system has two primary moving parts—vastly fewer than gas-operated designs—which means less to clean, less to fail, and less weight. The tradeoff is that inertia guns require some load momentum to cycle reliably, making them better suited to standard and magnum loads than ultra-light target loads. For hunting and defensive use, this is rarely a limitation.
Benelli M4—The Military Standard
The M4 is the only shotgun that uses a different operating system from Benelli’s other models—a short-stroke gas piston system designed specifically for the U.S. military JSCS (Joint Service Combat Shotgun) program, which it won. The gas operation was chosen for the M4 because it cycles more reliably with less-than-lethal rounds and reduced-recoil loads used in military and law enforcement applications. The M4 features a pistol grip stock, 18.5-inch barrel, 7-round magazine, and a Picatinny rail. It’s the most capable semi-automatic tactical shotgun available and the benchmark against which all others are measured. The M4 is a significant investment but represents genuine military-contract quality.
Benelli M2—The Versatile Field Gun
The M2 is Benelli’s most versatile shotgun, available in 12 and 20 gauge in field, tactical, and 3-gun configurations. The M2 Field is a lightweight hunting shotgun with a walnut or synthetic stock and ComforTech recoil reduction system. The M2 Tactical features an 18.5-inch barrel, ghost ring sights, and a pistol grip stock for home defense use. The M2 3-Gun is configured for competition with an extended magazine and oversized controls. The inertia system makes the M2 one of the fastest-cycling pump or semi-auto shotguns available—competitive shooters have clocked faster split times with the M2 than with virtually any competing semi-auto.
Super Black Eagle 3—The Waterfowl Standard
The Super Black Eagle 3 is Benelli’s flagship waterfowl shotgun and has dominated the premium waterfowl market for decades. The SBE3 chambers 3.5-inch magnum shells—required for geese and large ducks at distance—while remaining functional with standard 2¾-inch loads. The ComforTech stock system with gel pads absorbs significant recoil from magnum loads. Available in 12 gauge with Mossy Oak and Realtree camo finishes for different hunting environments. The SBE3’s reputation for cycling any load reliably in any condition has made it the first choice for serious waterfowlers who hunt in the extreme cold, mud, and wet that can cause other semi-autos to malfunction.
Benelli Ethos—Premium Field Shooting
The Ethos is Benelli’s premium field shotgun, featuring a progressive comfort stock, engraved receiver, and AA-grade walnut stock in a package designed for upland hunting and sporting clays. The Ethos is available in 12, 20, and 28 gauge, and the 20-gauge version is particularly praised for its light weight and balance. The Progressive Comfort stock uses a series of chevron-shaped inserts to progressively absorb recoil, making it one of the softest-shooting 20-gauge semi-autos available. For hunters and sporting clays shooters who want premium aesthetics alongside Benelli’s inertia reliability, the Ethos is the natural choice.
