Ruger American Compact Rifle .308 18" Black Composite Stock

Great rifle for the price. It is hard to find a compact rifle that fires less than .5 groups at any price range with federal ammo. Lightweight so the .308 caliber has a little kick but the pad leaves little to be felt. A+

I recently sold a very accurate Tikka T3 Superlite .308. I needed some cash, and it was on the high dollar end, so I took the scope off, purchased a much cheaper Ruger American Compact .308, and installed the same scope (Burris E1 3x9x40). I must say that this was a downgrade only on the cash side, on quality and accuracy the Ruger went above and beyond my expectations. The accuracy is identical to that of the Tikka! First day out, I put 2 groups on paper using Hornady Steel Match 168gr HPBT, those groups measured 0.65 inch, and 0.90 inch respectively. This is from the prone using a Harris bipod, no bench rest or vise grips here. You can't beat under 1 MOA for $300 bucks! This has taken the place as my hunting/medium to long range rifle, no doubt about it.

As this is my first rifle, I'm not going to go into great detail. It's a light, accurate rifle that is great for target practice and hunting. At only 6 pounds, it can be slung for hours without discomfort. It will need a scope, but you don't need to go crazy on the cost for accurate groups at a reasonable distance.

This is an outstanding rifle. I still can not believe the price. The action is smooth, the groupings are tight, and the rifle very lightweight.

Bought this gun about 6mos ago. Very accurate outta the box and finish & action is really quite nice. Great all around shooter. Great value for the money.
