One of Stoeger’s newest releases is the STR-9 pistol. Yeah, you read that right, Stoeger, the company known for its easy-on-the-pocket shotguns. The STR-9 is following that same suit, but don’t let that fool you, it’s packed with features for the price-point.

If you want to see the STR-9 in action then check out our YouTube review. We go over the features of the gun, and take it out on our Ogden shooting range to see how it performs.

If you’re comparing apples-to-apples the STR-9 closely resembles a Glock 19 as it has a trigger-blade safety, and locks up and takes down just like the Austrian gun. The STR-9 has a great trigger for being a budget friendly option, the reset is very tactile, and the trigger doesn’t have much mushiness.

The STR-9 comes from the factory with a corrosion resistant black nitride slide with a loaded chamber indicator. It has aggressive slide serrations to ensure a firm grip for cycling in all weather conditions. The front slide serrations are great for those who like to do press checks, or rack the slide from there. Also, The front finger grooves are very similar to the Beretta APX. The trigger guard is opened up and has a nice undercut for those shooters with larger fingers, or who like to wear gloves.

Coming standard with a medium-size backstrap, the STR-9 offers several models with small, medium, and large backstraps to accomodate a variety of hand sizes.

Overall, the STR-9 seems to be a banger for the buck. It offers many features that are often found in pistols twice the price.
