RAPiD Hornady Security Gun Safes

How do you safely store your firearm while being able to rapidly access it in an emergency situation?
This is a question that many manufacturers have attempted to solve with various methods, including key locks, push-button codes, biometrics (fingerprint sensing), and now, from Hornady Security and their line of RAPiD Safes, with RFID.
RFID is radio-frequency identification. RFID systems consist of three components: an RFID tag or smart label, an RFID reader, and an antenna. RFID tags contain an integrated circuit and an antenna, which are used to transmit data to the RFID reader (also called an interrogator).
RFID gun safes allow rapid access to a firearm when in range and signaled by an RFID transmitter or tag. Just being near the gun safe with the RFID transmitter will cause it to open, and is usually accomplished with a key fob, an access card, or a small label that can be attached to devices such as a smart phone. RFID gun safes will have a second form of entry such as a standard key-lock combination or a keypad in case the transmitter is lost or not present.
Benefits of RFID technology include no need to find a key to the safe, to register a fingerprint, or to remember a combination.
Hornady Security offers gun owners one of the most comprehensive line of quick access RFID gun safes in the form of the RAPiD product line, including RAPiD Safe pistol safes, RAPiD Safe wall locks for shotguns and AR-type rifles, and a RAPiD Safe AR Gunlocker. Their patented RFID technology delivers the fastest access to handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Simply place the RFID tag, which can be a wristband, a key fob, or an adhesive decal, over the reader and the safe springs open to present your firearm.
