About a year ago set out, like so many others, to find "the best" single stack nine. Watched every video, read every review, talked with people, shot as many as I could get my hands on and initially narrowed it down to six. Upon comparing just that group amongst themselves there were three that were almost too close to call for me: Walther PPS, Smith and Wesson M&P Shield, and Springfield Armory XDS (3.3 all black for me). Could only afford one at present, had to split hairs and went with the XDS. Like options of 7,8,9 round mags, have slightly small hands and can get three fingers on flush 7rd mag comfortably, love grip safety for cc, amby mag release, like that it's a bit heavier, metal guide rod, polished feed ramp, WELL built, rail, visible and 3d loaded chamber indicator, and more. Current Springfield promo gets you two extra mags, mag holster, and range bag to boot. Great shooter. Wife shot it and wants one too. Impact Guns saved me over $100 from best local price with typical friendly service, fast processing, and shipping.
