very good gun, February 11, 2012
This is a great little gun. I have had mine for 10 years now. It is very accurate, very light and fun to shoot. It does have feeding problems with all brands EXCEPT Remington ammunition. Mine works just fine with remington ammo. As long as you clean it after every 500 rounds or 1000 rounds you will be good to go.

Why Savage why?, November 21, 2010
I had a lot of issues with my Savage 64f. It jammed on my second round new out of the box. I had a large history of feeding issues and stove piping on extraction. It also absolutely would not digest anything but standard loads. Stingers and other hot rounds would stick in the chamber even from a thoroughly clean start. Lead nosed rounds caused the most issues, often jamming every time after 2 or 3 shots. I also had a lot of issues with the magazines. My first magazine suffered a broken feeding lip after the first week. The two I bought to replace it often had issues with rounds getting stuck and one of them caught the nasty habit of shooting the rounds out if more than 2 were put in. I finally managed, with a lot of sanding and some welding, to modify a magazine into something reliable. I continued to use the rifle and did manage almost 3 years of use before the sear bar broke rendering it a wall hanging. I tried to get it repaired but sadly savage wouldn't send me parts and it would have cost more to send it in for repair than to have bought a new one. Makes me sad to give a firearm a bad review, the saddest part being when it actually shot the accuracy was phenomenal.

Lite Weight Powerhouse, November 16, 2010
As I've gotten older I wanted a small game rifle that's not so heavy, but with good accuracy. I've used a couple from friends but not what I was looking for. I also wanted to find something for my young grandson. I did a little research and decided to try the Savage 64F. I first took it to the shooting range to get a feel for it...this would be the place to decide. Boy, was I pleasantly supprise. This rifle is nice and lite (I though it would be a lot of recoil, even with a 22LR) and with very little recoil and extremely accurate. If you are looking for a small game rifle that's very accurate, the Savage 64F is your gun. It sports a 10-round ammo clip that's easy to pop in and pop out. The only negative is, you'll have to mount your own shoulder strap brackets...if you want one.
