In Nov., 2011, I bought a Remington R1 OD pistol. I wanted a Remington R1 to add to my collection of 1911s. I have put 200 rounds of Remington HP and Winchester ball through it. It is very accurate, keeping all rounds under two inches at 25 yards, shooting from a rest. There have been no FTFs or FTEs. I have used the eight round Remington mags, McCormick eight and 10 round mags and some Taurus mags from a PT1911 I own. There have been no problems with any of the mags.
Appearance-wise, the gun is well-finished, no rough edges and the black oxide and OD green duracoat on the slide and frame, respectively, are smooth and complete.
I chose the OD model because I couldn't find a regular R1 pistol for sale at the time. I am glad I picked the OD model because it enhances the appearance and history of the 1911 as a military handgun. The pistol is very tight. Shooting and dry firing have made the pistol easier to load and clean.
The trigger pull is clean. It is easy to place a coin on the top of the slide and dry fire it without knocking the coin off the gun. There has not been any bite in the web of my hand after shooting the gun 200 times. I intend to keep it for CCL carry.
