Description

SR9C Compact 9mm 3.5 Inch Blackened Barrel Adjustable Sights Reversible Backstrap Ambidextrous Safety Built-In Rail And And One 17 Round Magazine and One 10 Round Magazine

Features a raked forward front sight for easy removal from the holster. Rear sight is windage and elevation adjustable and front sight is windage adjustable. Reversible backstrap is adjustable for a flat or arched fit. Ambidextrous thumb safety and D-shaped ambidextrous magazine release are easy to reach and actuate. Built-in accessory mounting rail. Retraction grooves on the front of the slide provide a sure grip. Comes with two magazines.

The SR9c compact pistol weighs in at 23.40 oz. and features an overall length of 6.85", a height of 4.61", and the same slim 1.27" grip width (across safety levers) as the full-sized SR9. It comes with two magazines that provide options in both capacity and grip size. The standard magazine holds 10 rounds and features a flat bottom butt plate; a finger grip extension floor plate is also included. The second magazine features a grip adapter and holds 17 rounds, instantly transforming the smaller, compact grip into a full-sized 9mm grip. The 3.50" barreled pistol features an integral accessory rail that accommodates most lights and lasers.

The SR9c compact pistol utilizes the same adjustable, high-visibility 3-Dot sight system as its full-sized predecessor, setting it apart from many compact pistols that rely on fixed sights. New serrations are located on the front portion of the slide, making it easier to both manipulate the slide and to press check the chamber. The SR9c is available with a glass-filled nylon frame and through-hardened slide in either a brushed stainless or blackened finish. State compliant variations are available where necessary and ship with two 10-round magazines.

Just like the original, full-sized SR9, the SR9c is loaded with modern safety features like a 1911-style ambidextrous manual safety, internal trigger bar interlock and striker blocker, trigger safety, magazine disconnect, plus a visual and tactile loaded chamber indicator.

Big Picture: The SR9c tries to compromise between home defender "night stand gun" and Concealed carrier with good accuracy overall.

Ive been using the SR9c as a concealed carrier for about 15 months now and while it can fulfill that role it is somewhat heavy for that role. The SR9c has all the features of its big brother the SR9, ambidextrous safety and mag release, adjustable backstraps, striker fired design, etc. However, it seems like Ruger was trying to fit a Mustang engine into a gremlin, it feels good in the hand but the weight is adverse to everyday carry. It is spot on for accuracy as the SR9 proved to be and is easy to shoot. Ruger DOES include two mags, gunlock and a holster which is VERY much appreciated. For a guy with bigger hands who isnt worried about weight and wants a smaller than full size defensive pistol, this one may be for you. however i am a smaller guy who likes to wear his basketball shorts and conceal carry, and the gun feels like its trying too hard to fulfill two roles. Don't get me wrong, in the end its a great gun but not for my needs.

    +Pros
    Ambidex
two mags standard (10 and 17)
Holster comes standard (Ruger knows value)
Easy to shoot, inherits SR9's accuracy/Handling
    backstraps come standard

    -Cons
Hard balance between home defender and Carrier
On the heavy/bulky side for concealed carry
not for the smaller shooter who wants concealed

I got this as a replacement for a Kel-tec P11. I never felt totally confident with the KT's hard long trigger pull and would often carry either a Bersa 380 or Kel Tec P38T instead. I wanted something more powerful than a .380 and had a hard time accepting my SFA XD40's lack of a mechanical safety which I personally prefer. The SR9c fits the bill for my carry needs perfectly. No hiccups on the range fed perfectly and was awestruck by the incredible accuracy of this gun. It seem to hit exactly what I pointed at!! There was another guy there with me with a Taurus who had miserable misfeeds with his. Out of fairness, he just took his peice out of the box and expected it to perform as is with the packing grease. His finally seized shut. I advised him to take it to a professional gunsmith but he insisted on trying to hammer the seized slide open. His range habits were a bit dangerous for my taste and I closed up shop and left. Getting back to the subject, I cant wait to get it back on the range again and am fully confident that it was a wise and smart buy for the money. I feel you cant go wrong with this gun but of course shop around and compare and please, clean and oil your gun when you take it out of the box before shooting it.. any gun for the love of pete!!
