I just got this SR40c with the stainless slide. Boy is it nice. The ergonomics on the SR pistols from Ruger are outstanding. The compact SR40 is no exception.
Mine came with two magazines, one is a 9 round shortend version and the other the full size 15 round that also fits with the full size SR40. I actually would prefer that it came with two of the shorter 9 round mags instead of the big 15 rounder. Not really a magazine for concealed carry. This 15 round mag comes with a plastic sleeve over the bottom of it to 'extend' the grip of the pistol. The 9 round mag comes with a pinky extension on it but also comes with a flush bottom plate you can put on it. Essentially I feel like it only came with one magazine since I intend to use this pistol for carry. I hate to have to buy another 9 round mag (or 2) at about $40 apiece.
Had the gun out yesterday and fired 200 rounds of various ammo. No failures of any sort. Not a lot of recoil for a 40 with this gun. It's an awesome shooter! Break down of this gun is super simple and takes seconds.
Although this is a 'compact' it's not a small gun. It's a compact version of the full size. Of all the guns I carry concealed this will by far become the largest. I'm not saying it's too big or anything but just letting you know it's no pocket pistol. It's actually very similar to the size of a Glock 23 even though the SR40c has a 3.5" barrel and the Glock 23 a 4". The grip on the SR is very slender and it feels great. It also has the rubber back strap that can be reversed to create a bit of a larger grip.
I really like this gun a lot already and have only had it out to shoot once. I hope it continues to serve me well as has my Ruger SR9 full size.
