America's Favorite Shotgun This All-American pump gun brings hunters the best of all worlds. Beneath no-nonsense, ready-for-work exterior of the Model 870 Express lies the same quality, precision, and dependability that you'll find in our legendary Model 870 Wingmaster, but at a much more affordable price.
Like all Model 870 shotguns, this workhorse features a receiver milled from a solid billet of steel for maximum strength and reliability. The silky-smooth twin action bars prevent binding and twisting so that you'll always have the chance to get off a second shot. Appropriately dressed for the hunt and not for the wall, each shotgun sports non-reflective black matte metalwork and a no-frills laminate stock and fore-end. Both the 12- and 20-gauge models are offered with your choice of a 26- or 28-inch vent-rib barrel with a Modified Rem Choke and single bead sight.
Its solid, dependable action makes it America’s favorite, and our continual upgrades make it the most advanced, well-rounded family of pump shotguns around. Along with continually evolving designs, this shotgun’s superiority is a matter of rugged dependability, great pointing characteristics and versatility. In fact, the Model 870 has been the standard for slide-action performance for almost 60 years!

  • Been using an 870 Express since I was 15

I have been shooting this shotgun since I was 15 years old (I am going to be 29 in October). I have probably 2000 rounds through it, mostly skeet and sporting clays. This gun has never jammed and as a teenager I took great pleasure in outshooting $10,000 Perazzis. It has never jammed or malfunctioned on me.

The action really does smooth out a lot after the first 250 rounds or so. Just takes some time to wear in.

This is the best price on a new 870 I have seen in a long time. Most of them in the stores around me are creeping up on $400.

  • Never Jams

I have put hundreds of rounds through my Remington 870. I use it for Upland game and Waterfowl. I do not own the 3.5 in magnum model, because I don't think it is necessary, but some guys really do like the 3.5 in Magnums.
These 870's will have a somewhat "rough" action at first. You will need to put a few hundred rounds through the gun to loosen it up. Also keep in mind that you will need to install your own sling swivel studs if you want to put a sling on it. Some 870's may have them installed, but the basic wood stock model does not. Overall, this is a very nice working gun at a great price. You can abuse the heck out of this thing and it will still bring you many years of enjoyment in the field in any condition. This design has been around for a very long time, because it simply works. I highly recommend an 870 to anyone new to the world of shotguns.

  • Work Horse

This is the work horse of pumps. It is flawless in function and durable. There are better looking, but this is the one to get if you want a worker.

  • Great Shotgun at a Great Price

This is a great deal on a shotgun. The 870 speaks for itself. If you need a reliable shotgun that can get some birds without breaking the bank, this is it. One bonus with this one is the removable chokes to give you some options in the field. You don't always get that at this price point. The only drawback to this particular model is that the wood and 'express' finish require a little more upkeep after a day in the elements.
