The classic model 1895 is a tried and true configuration of the famous lever action rifles. The action is as smooth as you''ve experienced. it's made with six machined and heat-treated steel forgings for greater strength. There is a clean, flat, solid top receiver that not only keeps out the rain, snow and debris, but also makes a perfect base for mounting a scope.

I lived in nh and shot a lot of deer with my 444 I didn't have to go find them. Now I have to get a 4570.

  • A joy to shoot!!!

I bought this gun because I saw a variant on the TV show Alaska State Troopers. I have to say, this gun is an absolute joy to shoot. Very light recoil for such a big round. My brother and I took our dad to the range for fathers day, my dad likes this rifle very much, after my brother shot it-he tried to buy it from me!

  • whats not to like?

I like the .45-70 and the fact that it can nearly approach the .458 Win. Mag. in power. I shoot a load that pushes a 415 grn. gas checked lead bullet at 1980 fps.
It kicks but the 1895 handles it appropriately. It would be a great big bear gun. It's very classic and handles very well. Mine has the XO receiver sights.
Not a joy at the bench but a joy in the woods.
