Star Targets are very safe when used as intended. Be sure to follow directions for maximum effect. Once the contents of the can is mixed as per directions- it must be impacted with a high velocity bullet to set it off. It WILL NOT go off if dropped, shaken, thrown or even mashed with a sledge hammer. It takes at a bullet (at least 40g) traveling at 2200 feet per second- directly impacted the can- to detonate. Anything below these weights and velocities will not set off the target.
Each target container contains two components: a base and a catalyst. Both pre-measured for maximum effect. The catalyst is contained in a small plastic bag and is simply opened, dropped into the can. Screw the lid back on, shake the contents vigorously for 45 to 60 seconds. The contents will turn a light grey color- indicating the target is ready for use.
Place the target a safe distance away- and in a safe situation- and aim at the star.
Important restrictions to consider:
1. Once mixed it is considered an explosive so you cannot transport it or store it. It must be shot on site.
2. Once mixed do not reduce or repackage smaller amounts.
3. Before use check local, sate and federal restrictions for the are you will be detonating the targets on.
