The outer tube is machined from one solid piece of aluminum alloy. It's very strong, keeping the "O" ring seals in place, so your scope doesn't leek the nitrogen that prevents fogging. The extra-wide field of view gives the shooter a much higher sense of confidence when viewing the target.
