The Soviet SVD (Snaperska Vintovka Dragunova) was introduced in 1963 and is a lightweight, self-loading sharpshooters’ rifle. Issued at the platoon level in the Russian Army. Chambered for the 7.62x54R cartridge. Very accurate with light recoil. It has a skeleton stock, telescope sight and 1- 10Rd magazine. Over the years, this rifle was made under license in China, Iran and Romania. These rifles are made in Romania, and designated PSL sniper rifle by them. Marked FPK Romania on receiver.
