TAPERED BASE Nightforce bases are designed to exceed Military design specifications. These all-steel mounts are tested for unfailing, repeatable performance. Nightforce bases are constructed from heat-treated, high-strength steel and CNC machined from a single steel billet to match the receiver contour. This method ensures true alignment, thereby reducing the amount of internal adjustment needed when zeroing the weapon. Selecting the proper taper will allow you to reclaim any lost adjustment. Bases are machined to exact Picatinny Mil. Std. 1913 specification rail dimensions, and the one-piece base extends two inches over the barrel, allowing for proper eye relief or mounting of night vision devices. An integral recoil lug machined on the bottom of the base which extends into the ejection port of the receiver. This lug provides a precise fit when bedded to the rifle’s action, thus preventing any movement of the base. Both types of bases are finished with a matte black Mil-Spec coating.
TORX DRIVE SYSTEM Nightforce bases utilize the Torx drive system to secure the mount to the rifle. These Torx screws have a deep engaging lobe head design that makes more efficient use of driving force, so you can tighten screws to the prescribed 15 in.-lbs. of torque to the rifle without deforming the screw heads.
