The MIL-STD-1913 Tactical Illuminator Mounting Rail is designed to fit those small tactical flashlights that are designed to directly interface with a MIL-STD-1913 rail. At a length of under two inches and a weight of just over 1/2 ounce it is as compact and lightweight as the lights themselves. This new tactical light mount is machined from solid billet 6061 T6 aircraft grade aluminum alloy using modern CNC machinery. After being dehorned and bead blasted the mount is Type III hard-coat anodized matte black to mil-spec, so as to provide a hard combat proven finish.
The MIL-STD-1913 Tactical Illuminator Mounting Rail for the AR15/M16 series of rifles can be easily installed by the operator with basic hand tools or purchased from us already installed on a new set of standard M16A2 or M4 handguards. If operator installed, we recommend that the rail be attached to the handguard in a location where both the momentary-on (rotate counter-clockwise) and constant-on (rotate clockwise) switch assembly can be reached by the thumb of the support hand. For a right-handed operator this will usually be on the front of the top handguard just to the right of the centerline.
