I have had 1911 in my hands off and on for over 30 years (military and law enforcement). When I first picked up the Springfield Champion, it felt as if it belonged in my hand.
After buying it, the first thing was to dissamble, inspect, and clean and lubricate. After this, it was to the range with 250 rounds of WW 230 grain FMJ ammunition. At the end of the day, no malfunctions of any kind. My final 21 rounds were fired from 25yds. with a group just left of center of target and all but 2 rounds could be cover by 4" saucer.
I now have just over 1000 rounds fired without a malfunction. The fit and finish of this pistol is some of the best I have seen even on some of the so called custom built guns.
