Great knife, but....,
September 01, 2011
I bought this knife for general "carry" while working with my horses, camping, etc. The knife itself is fantastic! Just the right size, a good all-purpose blade, and holds an edge well. My only complaint is with the sheath.. If you're a "wanna-be" Rambo you'll probably like it. Otherwise it's HUGE-oversize-bulky-ugly... etc. Why not offer this great knife with a simple nylon sheath. One that is just large enough to hold the knife, instead of one that makes a gigantic fashion statement for the para-military guys (who have never seen any actual combat)???

Quality Knife,
December 30, 2010
I have two SOG knives. Both are built in Japan and are of very high quality for production knives. I like the Seal Pup because it is not too big and not too small. It is just the right size and weight to carry in a pack when hiking or on my belt. They do make a larger version but to me it is beyond what I needed. Very good quality knife. SOG builds a good product. The other knife I have is the SOG Visionary II. I love this knife. Well balanced and I love the locking system. I don't see that this site sells it though.

Nice Survival Knife,
December 10, 2010
I've owned several SOG products over the years and they are all of high quality. This knife is no exception. The blade is very thick and seems to be very strong, although I've not abused it to find out. Some don't like the handle, but I don't find it objectionable. I suppose if there is a weak spot on this product the handle is it. The nylon sheath is adequate, with a pocket for a sharpening stone (not included). For the price I wish the stone was included, but it's not a deal breaker. All-in-all a very nice survival/hunting knife.

All around best knife,
December 07, 2010
Carried this knife for years in the Army and it did everything I asked of it.
Grips well in the hand, has a great edge that dulls slowly and the sheath keeps the knife where you want to carry it.
I had mine mounted upside down on my LCE and it only came out of the sheath when I wanted it to come out.
I have had many knives in the past and if I had to pick one for self defense and utility, this one is it.
