S & W Bodyguard 380,
March 13, 2013
I really like my Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380, it's light, good shooting and functioned great. No misfires or jams with 200 rounds. Sights were good, laser was right on target. I liked the slide stop when mag is empty. The only problem I have is the safety is really stiff and hard to use. The laser button works with ease no problems. Ammo is hard to find now but I have enough to last. For the novice shooter a safety can get you shot, carry with the safety off you really don't need it with a double action pistol.

Great Gun-Crappy Laser,
January 26, 2013
Well it is a good thing that I think lasers are useless 90% of the time because otherwise I might not like this cool little gun. I bought this for my wife because the Ruger LCP was too hard for her to shoot correctly (I LOVE IT however). This gun allowed her more purchase on the grip-combined with sights that are actually there, and you can hit stuff with this gun (imagine that). Now I am pretty proficient with the LCP but many new shooters or those with smaller hands have a hard time with it. After several hundred rounds I still think this S&W Bodyguard is a good carry piece. The laser however-sucks-it kicked off for good after about 50 rounds. Love the gun though.

Safety Issue,
January 06, 2013
Bought this weapon at a licensed gun shop. Took it home to clean it before shooting. The safety was nearly impossible to operate with the thumb in the shooting position. You had to take the gun in both hands...tilted over on its side and use both thumbs to move it either into our out of safe. Took it back to the gun shop and was told "this is normal...since it has a long trigger pull it should not be a problem...just don't use the safety". That didn't set too well after having plunked down my money for what should be a quality piece.
I wrote to S&W explaining the problem and received a "form letter" informing me of their warranty procedure, my cost to ship/insure/ bla-bla-bla but no comment on the actual problem.
I occassionally carry it with the chamber empty but most of the time it just sits on the bench at home. Pretty disappointed in the quality of a S&W product. I have owned dozens of S&W weapons in the past and have always been impressed with their quality. No more.

Great Gun,
January 02, 2013
Very nice gun, had to send it out to Smith. Original run had issue with Laser pin working its way out and jammed gun. Smith fixed with new Laser and new style of assembly, have not had any issues since. Once you get use to the gun its very accurate, laser use great for practice. Very concealable with nice fit with out a holster.

Not as great as they say,
December 19, 2012
First off, the trigger pulls feels to be about 12lbs. The laser aim will change with each round fired.
If you wear a large or XL glove size, this will be too small for you.

Best 380 I have ever owned,
July 09, 2012
My Smith & Wesson Bodyguard is the best 380 I Have ever owned, it's not even close. Quality is #1, accuracy is great, and it has a built in laser. Shot three inch groups at 30 feet. Laser was right on the money. Some good features are the slide lock when gun is out of ammo, a manual safety. I really feel safe carrying this gun locked and loaded. It fits really good in your pocket.

Simple, Small, but Average,
April 07, 2012
This is my first .380 and had high expectations for this model based on the other reviews and comments from various dealers. I like the design, feel and simplicity of the Bodyguard. I think it will make a nice conceal weapon, but here are some issues to consider before purchasing. First, test it and make sure the trigger pull is to your liking. It is long and somewhat stiff on the pull. Second, the laser is a bit problematic. It isn't easy by any means to turn on or off. Third, it only comes with one magazine which makes the apparent price of the gun somewhat high if you like to have two or three magazines. I think S&W has a good initial product, but these three issues are important and if resolved would make an average pistol a very good one.

Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380,
February 18, 2012
Overall it's a good concealed carry gun. I agree that it's a snappy little gun with a long trigger. It takes alot a practice to get used to the long trigger.

Finally..a TRUE full feature pocket pistol...,
February 05, 2012
While everyone else was busy flooding the market with so-so pocket rockets, S&W stayed back and patiently perfected the piece for the first time in many years......All the features you would ever want, in a HIGH QUALITY, lightweight, reliable, fun piece that Actually fits in your pocket, not just claims it. Have had mine for a year now. Had a Bersa 380CC; a most excellent weapon, that I still highly endorse...but was still too heavy and not quite pocket material. After owning the BG 380, I had no problem relinquishing the Bersa to another good home....one of the best designs to ever hit the market, and one of the best firearms purchases I have ever made. My constant companion, and I carry in COMPLETE confidence. 'Nuff said......now quint dinking around reading these blogs, and go get one...you WON"T regret it!!

Great little pistol.,
January 29, 2012
Just picked one up recently. Looks like most shops are getting them back in stock now. I'll get the cons out of the way first. Long, stiff trigger pull. I understand this is a "pocket pistol" but I think they could safely lower trigger poundage. Also it is a double action only, so longer trigger pull is expected, but will take a fair amount of range time to get comfortable with it. (Note: You should spend considerable amount of time at the range with any weapon you intend on carrying.) Snappy gun, but that's a side effect of the light weight. Pros: Great sight picture for a pocket pistol, hands down better than Ruger's LCP "barely there" sights. Lightweight! I carry inside the waist band (Blackhawk, size: 38) and it's very comfortable, barely feel it. Thin. Yep, incredibly thin. Really helps to keep the "buldge" down. Laser is bright, has a "pulse" setting, and in contradiction to what I have heard from owners of earlier models, isn't too hard to activate. A firm press, but easily done with pointer finger of either hand. All in all, great for concealment and/or backup. Happy shooting!
