This review is actually for a Sig P229 Extreme which, with the exception the finish, is the same gun. But Impact does not have a P229 Extreme on the site for review. I purchased this gun as a gift for my daughter who expressed interest in owning a handgun for personal protection. I taught her to shoot with my P220 which proved to be a bit much for one so petite. I told her she could choose the caliber and the gun, but I got to choose the manufacturer. (The choice was between several Sigs and Glocks.) She chose the P229 Extreme for the following reasons: ease of operation, super ease of take down for cleaning, quality, the Short Reset Trigger (SRT), night sights, the presence of a rail and the 15 round capacity. When I purchased the gun I told her "Take good care of this weapon and it will last you for a lifetime." I fully expect it to do so. We went to the range and she loved the P229 Extreme. It was much easier for her to handle than my .45. She also was very pleased with all the features similar to my P220 Extreme ... especially the SRT and light recoil. I fired the gun a few times and I was thoroughly impressed with it's ease of handling, light recoil and accuracy. So much so that I recently purchased a Sig M11-A1 for myself (the key features in common being; night sights, high capacity, size, accuracy and SRT).I'm not a big fan of 9mm's, but with the ammo available now I am confident that it will be a great carry, back-up or home defense weapon. After all, I bought a Sig for the most important and loved person in my life. God forbid that she ever has to use it, but I fully believe that if she does ... the weapon will do it's job.
