Love the looks, but unreliable!,
April 20, 2013
Ive had a Sig Mosquito for nearly a year and had nothing but problems with it. The Mosquito has a well- documented history of mis- firing. Even after using only CCI mini mags, and kept clean- not only does it mis- fire, but for the second time, it won't shoot. If it does it shoots in double action only which i don't like. Because im the second owner(and the original owner shot less than 500a rounds), Sig wants a good amount of money to fix!

I've heard many complaints about this gun and I think people don't keep them lubed enough, or use the wrong spring for different .22 ammunition. Mine will cycle even sub-sonics reliably. Mine says made in Germany but I think some are made in NH.

Learn about your guns before using them!,
August 20, 2012
I bought mine used from a friend the sport model. Very nice firearm. The gun shiped from the factory with two different Rcoil springs a white one, standard for lower velocity rounds and a larger diameter one, heavy for higer velocity rounds. Please ensure your using the correct spring and ammunition combination for flawless results. Yes, the manufacture also states to use CCI ammunition as that is what the gun is tested with and performs extremly well. Yes their more expensive for a .22 caliber round but lets face it people you get what you pay for!

good gun without any problems if you use cci stinger ammo with a velocity of 1640 fps. lower velocity ammo wont cycle the slide. as far as the people saying the trigger pull is too hard, they need stronger fingers

This is a great .22 pistol!,
December 14, 2011
This gun is well built. But be warned...you can't buy a .22 pistol and put the cheapest ammmo in it and expcect it to perform like a larger caliber pistol, it just doesn't work that way. The slides are not much different in weight between a .22 and a 9mm, so the .22 has to have a good quality round for it to perform the way you want. This not only goes for this gun but for any .22 automatic pistol with this 1911 type slide. I have shot over 1500 rounds through mine with no misfires and no failure to eject. Put the best .22 ammo you can find in it. I only buy CCI Mini Mags at $7.29 for a 100 round box at Academy Sports. If you can't affort 7.3 cents per round, you don't need to shoot this type pistol! The double action trigger pull is a bit stiff for any double action pistol but I figure you only use that in an emergency anyway when your life is on the line and you shouldn't bet your life on a .22 anyway. Buy this gun, you will not be sorry unless you try to use the same ammo your grandfather used in his single shot, bolt action .22 rifle. Keep it clean and make sure the slide works smoothly and you will not have any problems.

Sig-Sauer Mosquito 22 lr,
August 29, 2011
Bought a Mosquito and love it. Never had a jamb in just over 200 rounds of CCI Mini Mags. That is the round that the manufacturer recommends be used exclusively in this pistol. Works flawlessly with the strong spring. I also shot a couple of clips of Remington Thunderbolts without any jambs. All in all a great gun... Very Happy...

Sig Mosquito,

Don't waste your money. (1)I can not shoot a magazine of ammo with out it jaming. (2) Double action triger pull is to hard for my wife to operate. I called Sig Customer Service and got we can fix the jam proble (why ship a firearm with a knowen problem?) As far as the triger pull goes they can do nothing about it. It maked the Sig Mosquito worthless for my wife. Very displeased with Sig Customer Service.
