Sig 226R 9mm, Tac Rail, Black Nitron, 15rd Mags

My Sig 226 is my favorite pistol. It has been 100% reliable with every type of ammo I have tried. Accuracy is great, largely due to the ergonomics and quality trigger. The tactical rail on the bottom front works great for a light when storing it at home for self defense. The decoking lever is also a nice feature. My wife likes how easy it is to un-cock the pistol, making it safe to carry with a round in the chamber. If you can afford to pay a little more, a Sig quality and features are definitely worth the extra.

Although I don't have the Sig 226 I do have the Sig 228 which is for the most part the same weapon but with a smaller barrel and a few less rounds in the clip. I have owned my 228 for close to 20 yrs and this weapon still shoots as sweet as it did the day i bought her. It says that it was made in West Germany, so that tells you that it's been around a while. The only add on that I made was a hogue rap around fingered grip which makes it fit that much better in my hand. I love the way it shoots. I would not hesitate to purchase another Sig product.

In the Dallas Police Department we are issued the Sig P226 9mm with a trigger variance called DAK (not sure if they still make that variance), and I can say after shooting thousands of rounds through my duty weapon since it was issued to me in academy, this is a darn good pistol and I've never had a stoppage (jam). For the beginner, this 9mm is the way to go; cheaper ammo and less kick. If your life is on the line and you have good trigger control, I would recommend going with the P226 in the .357 Sig caliber (it generally has better muzzle energy than a 9mm, .40 S&W, or even .45 Auto). Always remember the bottom line: "If you ain't hittin', you ain't winnin'! Sig has done their part in the equation. It's time for you to do yours: buy it, learn it, and practice, practice, practice. Be good and stay safe.
