Let me start by saying that I think Savage Rifles are some of the best rifles for the money. However, the 10 FCP-SR rifle I purchased is the exception. Currently my rifle is being returned to Savage for the third time.(hopefully the last)
There have had 3 main issues so far.
The first issue is ejecting the spent brass. Occasionally unlocking the bolt and retracting it requires a violent "yanking" on the bolt handle. This issue may be from incorrect chamberring of the barrel, but the problem still persists after 2 return trips to the factory.
The second issue pertains to the magazine. Extracting the ammo from the magazine occasionally causes the round to become jammed in the action. Another issue with the mag is that it is not captured securely and rattles in the mag well causing noise, which is not desirable in a tactical situation.
The third issue is slop in the bolt and the guides in the receiver. When Retracting the bolt, it is possible to hit the rear receiver frame with the lugs on the bolt.
Hopefully the "Third time is a charm" and Savage will repair the issues and return a functioning rifle.
On the good side.... I love the Accu-trigger and the accuracy is 1/2 to 3/4 MOA...otherwise I would have traded it in a long time ago...
