Lyman is my favorite loaders manual. Even before I ever loaded a single round on my own I would still read through the handbook. Round dimensions, velocities, impact force, drop at range. These all fascinated me. Once I started loading here and there I got distracted and just wanted to try as many loads as possible. One of my favorite things to reload were black powder cartridges. This book was a big help in teaching me about loading black powder and all it's factors. For instance a .44-40 is a .44 cal bullet with 40 grains of fffg black powder. I got about 23 grains in before the case was full, and I mean couldn't seat the bullet without bulging the case. Lyman had the solution for me. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in working with black powder.
