I had no intention of purchasing another 9mm as I was quite content with my Glock 17, but then I picked this gun up and held it while at a gun show. Wow! Talk about a comfortable fit! After some coaxing from my husband I indulged and purchased this work of art, and have absolutely no regrets. Straight out of the box it shot perfectly and smoothly, like a finely tuned sports car. I was blown away!
The DA/SA trigger only took a short time to adjust to, and the accuracy of this gun was pure perfection from the start. By the second magazine I was shooting 2.5 inch clusters at 20-25 feet with absolutely no discomfort and very little kickback. As a woman with weaker wrists and grip strength than my male counterparts, kickback can be a big issue. I literally can shoot this gun all day long without any fatigue. Yeah, it’s that smooth.
Once I got the gun home and spent some time customizing the grip what I thought was already perfect became even better. I also spent some time investigating the advantages of the ambidextrous safety and magazine release mechanism, which could be a huge advantage in situations requiring one to shoot only using the non-dominant hand. This gun is only slightly more complicated to field strip than my Glock, with differences so minimal as to be irrelevant.
Long story short, I never thought I would ever find a gun I love as much as my Glock, but this P30 opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities. Yes, it’s pricey, especially when compared to many other models, but given how comfortable it is in my hand and how easy it is to shoot, I’ve no doubt I’ll get my money’s worth out of it. While my Glock may be my favorite muscle car, this H & K is my Ferrari.
