No handgun expert, here, but ex-military, enjoys shooting.... CCW, as well is my wife. I own the G26, as well as the G29. Both well built guns that inspire confidence that they'll go "bang" every time you pull the trigger... The overall size is slightly longer and slightly wider and slightly heavier than the G26. For CCW, I prefer the G26, but only because of size and weight.
Both Glocks are simple to maintain and disassemble/assemble. Both will fire any round you feed it faithfully. Both are comfortable with +P rounds... the difference?... the G29 is a hand-held cannon.
You can choose how powerful you want it to be... if you want to plink, 1050fps rounds shoot like a G26 with +P rounds or a G27 (40S&W) with Double Tap or Corbon rounds. Once you move up to the full snot 10mm rounds, the gun takes on a cannon's personna... "whoa momma"....
The G29 is such a powerful gun that, unless you're shooting light, JHP rounds, you'l just make pretty thru-and-thru holes in the perp. ... but man, is it a hoot to shoot!
Feels like it was made for my hand. (5'8"). One of the things that makes this gun so flexible is that you can quickly change the barrel for a different caliber. I have a Lone Wolf 10mm to 40S&W... (you can also get a LW .357 Sig barrel that is also a drop in swap) that allows me to shoot up my wife's ammo stack of .40 S&W without her knowing it... (One of her guns is a Taurus PT740 Slim).. :)
This is also good because if the 10mm round is a bit much, both in drama and bullet cost (10mm tends to get a bit pricey), the 40S&W makes the G29 a whole 'nother shootin' iron.
Said al that to say this... love this gun. VERY versatile, will eat anything you feed it, more accurate than I'll ever be and a solid price.
But be warned.... If you're stopped at a traffic light in your Mercedes, and some perp sticks some piece-o-crap in your window, and you pull out a G29 with a full-snot round, the sound of that puppy going off will alter your hearing forever.
Cheers,
Dan
