FN AR Type 308/7.62x51 Rifle, Light Weight Fluted 20" Barrel, 20 Round Mag

Descending from the legendary Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR), the FNAR puts autoloading speed and bolt-action accuracy into one powerful package. Chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO (308 Win.), the FNAR is available with either a 16" or 20" cold hammerforged MIL-SPEC fluted barrel with hard-chromed bore and recessed target crown. The matte black synthetic pistol grip tactical stock is fully adjustable. The FNAR is equipped with multiple MIL-STD 1913 rails for mounting your choice of optics, lights and lasers. The FNAR is the ideal competition and practical rifle when both speed and power are your top priorities.

Set up your FNAR just the way you want it. Choose from three interchangeable cheekpieces for perfect eye-to-scope alignment. Install any of three butt pads to create the ideal length of pull. Insert any of five shims to fine tune the cast and drop at comb. Add the optical or electronic sight of your choice on the top MIL-STD 1913 rail. Install a battery of tactical lights and lasers on the multiple forward mounting rails. Now that you''ve set up your FNAR, start putting rounds right on target through the precision fluted barrel with chrome lined bore and recessed target crown.

My first .308 cal long rifle and boy im happy! I got mine for under a grand (thanx Obama) and got two extra mags at $75 a piece(ouch) but you get what u pay for, these are no pmags, solid steel made for a life time of use and abuse. At 20 rds a mag you really dont need many. LOVE the finish and looks of this gun, I also put on the largest check rest and butt pad and it fits me great standing or prown. Shoots better then I do and with the Nikon mildot 16x 42 monarch scope I feel like ZUES raining down thunder bolts! By FAR the BEST box mag semiauto .308 for the money, You wont be dissapointed. By the way I called the factory and they shoot Federal Gold Medal 168 grain sierra match tip ammo. About a buck a round on SGAmmo.

Almost Perfect, May 27, 2012

Took delivery of the FN AR a couple of weeks ago and only have 100 rounds through the gun so here are my initial impressions. Design, sturdy, well made, relatively easy to break down, flexible and adjustable, lastly "tactacool". Accuracy, gun is much better than 99% of the shooters out there. ...consistent sub one inch groups at 100 yard with factory ammo, note 150 grain were rumored per all the couch experts to not be very accurate, hey boys maybe it's time to start doing rather than talkin. Ergonomics, yes I am using that word in a gun review, lets just say FN USA nailed it with the adaptability of this rifle, being a "big guy" I switched out the butt pad and the stock cheek with the largest of the three provided and found the gun to be totally comfortable. Now for the "almost perfect" header, everything is perfect for the exception of magazine availability. Regardless if you buy a 5, 10 or 20 round mag for this gun you will have to open your wallet in a big way. Summary, excellent quality, accuracy, reliability (based on a 100 rounds)and usability. If you can live with the high cost of the mags this is the best 308 semi auto assault rifle under $1500, which can also be used out to 600-800 yards, (load dependent) or to shoot backyard pigs eating my garden here in Fla. Hopefully FN USA will get the message on the mags, if they don't dig deeper for in the end you will get one hell of a flexible rifle with a heavy round and multiple uses for under $1500 which is pretty darn good! <edited for length>
