I purchased this gun in January of ’08 primarily to teach my son how to shoot pistols with something smaller then my .45’s. Since that time I have fired approximately 4k rounds through it and have become a big fan!
The gun is very ergonomic and just feels good in your hand; the sights are easy to see and come into alignment quickly; and the trigger pull is very short and crisp. These things together make it very accurate and fun to shoot. Whether you are using paper targets practicing your accuracy, or just out for a day plinking, this gun is a good choice. At an outdoor range where I frequently shoot, I use golf balls as targets starting with them out about 5 yards away, and following them down range until they are too far away to hit. On occasion, I have hit them as far out as 25 - 30 yards!
As with any .22 semi auto pistol, it needs to be kept clean. After about five hundred rounds, gunk tends to build up on the firing pin spring causing enough friction to keep the firing pin from striking the bullet hard enough to fire. At this point, it will also start to have loading issues. These are typical problems with .22 caliber pistols when they get dirty. The small bullets just do not produce enough “kick back” to overcome the friction that dirt causes in the cycling mechanism. Luckily cleaning is relatively simple.
Overall I highly recommend this gun. Although I would never give up my .45’s, this gun is just fun and cheap to shoot!
