My boresnake gets used quite regularly to clean out the barrel.
I like how you can attach a small patch to the end of the snake (via the loop) to help clean out any residue or lint.
I would be conserned if I had alot of cleaning to do (very dirty bore), but for light to medium cleanings, it is great.
You still need a couple good quality brushes and of course cleaning solution for the chamber, exterior or other small parts, but you cannot beat the bore snake for a quick cleanup.
