Anderson Manufacturing's Heavy Barrel Carbine, California legal model (AM15AOR16-CA) is the workhorse of the Anderson Rifles line. Chambered in .223/5.56mm and offering a 16-in. 1-9 in. twist barrel, the Heavy Barrel Carbine includes and optics-ready Picatinny rail, and adjustable stock. The overall length ranges from 32-1/2 in. to 36-1/8 in. Treated with RF-85, the standard Heavy Barrel Carbine features a hard-anodized 8625 F finish with a 7075-T6 aluminum receiver.
In addition to the rigid quality controls of manufacturing, the feature that sets the Anderson AM15 Rifles apart from the masses is the proprietary RF85treatment allowing Anderson weapon systems to operate efficiently without“Wet” lubricant. In a coefficient friction test performed by Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the reduction of friction on all steel surfaces was reduced by 85%— without traditional “wet” lubricant, hence the name RF85. An RF-85 treated weapon cycles faster and more reliably, operates at cooler temperatures,experiences significantly less wear and, without traditional “WET” lubricant, doesn’t experience failures due to excess dirt and carbon fouling in the action.
Testing at Oak Ridge National Laboratories, the untreated rifle took 23% longer to cycle than the RF85 treated rifle during testing. Oil attracts dirt, sand, grit and other harmful particles. By using the RF85 treatment not only will the gun operate almost a quarter precent faster but will also last longer due to less drag and wear and accumulation of harmful elements is greatly reduced.
This rifle is California legal, conforming to CA penal codes 12276.1 / 5469(a) and instead of the standard 30-round magazines, would ship with two 10-round "fixed" magazines which can only be removed using a special tool (or a bullet) - the bullet button.
